Mountaineering skiing at 3400 m in a glacier and....

Escapando el finde take part in the awesome Mountaineerimg Field Course of MEC  they organized for the staff in the Banff National Park, close to Lake Louise

Escapando el finde with some other members of MEC, Colin, Simon, Lian, Tim and Kevin went to have the most 4 amazing day of mountaineering skiing with Mike Stuart ( Canadian Mountain Guide ). The 1ºst and 4ºth day we went for easy and nice mountaineering rides (4 hours) and also we learned different skills.

The 2ºnd and 3ºrd day, with the perfect weather,we went to the most insane touring climbing to two of the nicest mountains of the Banff National Park, Cirque Peak 2990m ( 9hrs) and Mount Hector 3395m (10hrs). This two peak, that are hard to climb, have incredible views and also both have glacier that we could ski with tons of snow and powder turns.

Escapando el finde participo en el Curso de esquí de Montaña organizado por el MEC para los trabajadores en el Parque Nacional de Banff, cerca de Lake Louise.

Escapando el finde junto con otros compañeros del MEC, Colin, Simon, Lian, Tim and Kevin nos fuimos durante 4 increibles dias hacer esquí de travesía con el Guía de Alta Montaña Mike Stuart. El 1º y 4º día hicimos unas rutas lindas y faciles 4(horas) y aprendimos nueva habilidades.

El 2º y 3º con el tiempo perfecto, fuimos hacer uno de los más locos esquis de travesía por dos de las montañas más bonitas del Parque Nacional de Banff, Cirque Peak 2990m ( 9 hrs) and Mount Hector 3395m (10hrs). Estos dos picos, duros de subir, tienen además dos increibles glaciares por los que bajamos esquiando en nieve polvo.

Barney Peak

Escapando el finde en los primeros calurosos dias de Abril salio de ruta de montaña por los alrededores de Castle Mountain, en busca de unas excelentes vistas.

La escapada surgio tras esquiar un rato en la montaña y decidir que era mejor subir otras que no tenian nieve. Asi que tras cambiarme arranque en direccion norte bordeando el rio por su lado este hasta llegar a un chute sin nieve en direccion al pico. Tras cruzar un bosque toco subir un pedrero bastante inclinado y con un paso de grado 3+ al final. Luego se crestea en dirección sur hasta llegar al Picos Barney. 

Las vistas desde ahi de Castle Mountain y las montañas rocosas no tienen precio.

Escapando el finde at the beginning of a warm April went for a hike closed to Castle Mountain Resort, with the idea of finding amazing views.

The trekking idea comes to me after a ski season during the morning and decided that was better to hike a peak without snow. After changing my clothes a started hiking in north direction on the east side of the river until I got to one chute without snow in the way to the peak. Then I crossed a forest and a rocky ground pretty steep with a climbing step at the top (level 3+). Finally I walked the ridge heading south to get to the Barney Peak. 

The views from the peak of Castle Mountain and the Rocky Mountains are...........

Backcountry IV

Escapando el finde aprovechando una de las ultimas nevadas y tras esperar a que el riesgo de avalancha sea moderado se fue en otro backcountry por los alrededores de Castle Mountain .

El dia arranco subiendo en silla hasta la zona alta desde donde se puede hacer una fuera de pista llamado Six Shooter , tras esto toco la subida camino del Mount Saint Eloi, pero dadas las condiciones de nieve y viento del dia anterior no era para arriesgar, así que se bajo la pala que se ve en la primera foto. Nieve buena,  muy divertida y larga bajada tras 1:45 de subida.

Luego la vuelta a casa toco caminar porque nadie paso en coche, lindo igual. El día fue largo así que se repitio Six Shooter.

Escapando el finde after one of the last deep snow storm and after the avalanche dangerous was in a moderate level, went for another backcountry day closed to Castle Mountain .

The day started going up to the top in the chair lift and skiing a nice off piste call Six Shooter , after this the climbing started to the peak of the Mountain St Eloi, but the conditions of the snow and wind the night before were not to risk, so I skied the hill you can see in the 1st picture. Good snow, funny and long descent.

The way home was waking because nobody was going in my direction, after all it was nice. The day was long so I went back to Six Shooter.
