Elizabeth Parker Hut, Lake O'hara

Escapando el finde was this past weekend in the Elizabeth Parker Hut at Lake O'Hara in the Yoho National Park, a beautiful place to spend a weekend and make some snowshoeing or backcountry ski.

This time Escapando el finde was invited to a birthday party ( Adrianne)  with another 16 people. The way to get from the parking lodge to the hut is pretty easy, because the trail is wide and with an easy going because you will only gain 400 meter of elevation.

The group of people was really nice, even do some of us we didn't know each other but we had really good times, lots of fun and very interesting chats.

Snowshoeing in Highwood Pass, Kananaskis

Escapando el finde went for the first winter day trip to Highwood Pass, in Peter Lougheed Park, pretty famous place to go backcountry or snowshoeing as we did.

Escapando el finde with Juli, Carla and Carlitos went, in a spectacular sunny day, for a snowshoeing day trip to Highwood Pass. The snow was fresh and cold but once we start moving it was perfect to enjoy the beauties of the views. We decided to make a random walk, kind of a loop between trees, trough the valley and crossing the frozen river several times.

Here a short 1 minute VIDEO

Badly Pass and the Midnight Peak

Escapando el finde went this Sunday to a beautiful hike in Kananaskis Provincial Park, Badly Pass and the Midnight Peak 2330 m.

Escapando el finde with July and Carlitos went to this easy hike, at least until you get to Badly Pass. It was a kind of winter day, cold ,snowy but not windy. From the pass we went south to the Midnight Peak 9 north face) there is a moderate scramble straight to the peak, with snow is easier and the way down is pretty funny.

This hike is around 5:30 hours and 12 km with 900m elevation gain.

Rockbound Lake, Banff

Escapando el finde went for another hike in Autumn to Rockbound Lake, just behind the nice walls of Castle Mountain, in Banff National Park.

Escapando el finde with Carlitos, Mehrzad and Mai went this Saturday to this beautiful easy hike in Banff National Park. Before getting to the start point of the hike we saw a huge Grizzly bear that was crossing the road, pretty excited.

The hike is about 18 km round trip and 800m elevation gain. The trekking goes by a nice forest most of the time and with a beautiful views from Castle Mountain and Eisenhower Tower. Also in the way to the Rockbound Lake you can see the Tower Lake that at this time of the year is completely frozen.

Burstall Pass , Peter Lougheed Provincial Park

Last weekend and the first of Autumn escapando el finde went for a nice, snowy and challenging hike in Burstall Pass, Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.

Escapando el finde with Carla in a kind of horrible day went for this nice hike, recommended during the first weeks of Autumn, because of the colours of the trees and there leafs. We didnt have luck with the weather during our hike because was windy, snowing and with fog, but the is nice even with that conditions.

This is a easy hike with around 550 meters elevation and 15 km round trip.

Lake Bourgeau, Banff

Escapando el finde was during the last Sunday in a super recommended hike when the weather is hot and sunny, Lake Bourgeau.

Escapando el finde with, Carla, Andrea, Juli and Eva went for a beautiful hike in Banff National Park, after a good and funny night camping in Tunnel Mountain Campground. The hike with about 7,5 km ( one way) and 750 m elevation gain, is 90% under shadow so is perfect for sunny and hot days.

Easy and nice hike until you get to the Lake Bourgear, in this point you can keep going up in a steep terrain to get to the Harvey Pass and have a panoramic views.

Johnston Canyon, Banff

Escapando el finde was in one of the most popular an easy hikes in Banff National Park, Johnston Canyon.

With Carla, Juli, Carlos and Rafa we went to Banff on Sunday for this nice but super crowded hike to Johnston Canyon. The hike is easy and pretty flat what with super scenaries with lots of big and small water falls, trees but not to many animals.

This trekking short and easy you can extended to the inkpots, natural water ponds with different colours  . Is nice to hike to them because not many people goes so far so is perfect for a pic nick break or even a nap.
